On Wednesday, they sent troops to chicken farms to slaughter infected poultry.

South Korea has been hit hard as of late with the H5N1 bird flu. Tests carried out by the government revealed that poultry was infected with the H5N1 bird flu virus at a chicken farm in Pyeongtaek, 44 miles south of Seoul.

The government has sent 200 troops to the chicken farms to rid of the infected poultry.

Since the outbreak began two weeks ago, 2.2 million poultry have been slaughtered.

The H5N1 bird flu outbreak continues to spread though, infecting nearby farms and other areas.

The hope is that they will soon be able to contain this latest outbreak.

Since 2003, over 230 people have died from the H5N1 bird flu virus.
