Study Finds Toxic Chemicals Causing Cancer In Cats, Dogs
April 20, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - According to a new study carried out by an environmental group, cats and dogs have been found to carry toxic chemicals such as mercury stain-proof coatings, and others.
The Environmental Working Group has stated that these chemicals lead to an increase in cancer as well as hyperthyroidism in cats and dogs, as they are pushing for more regulation.
For their study, they tested the blood and urine of 20 dogs and 37 cats from Virginia.
They found in these cats and dogs, a total of 48 chemicals present.
It is likely that the cats and dogs took in the chemicals from such acts as licking the floor, etc.
The group cites that infants and toddlers are at similar risk, since they are on the cat and dog’s level.
The group is pushing for better regulation to make sure these chemicals are safe.

I’m glad the amount of toxic chemicals in dogs & cats is being researched.
Many toxic chemicals are in common use in household cleaning products & personal care products, & were never properly safety-tested. Benzene is proven to cause cancer & leukaemia, yet is added to many products. When the WWF tested human blood they found toxic chemicals in all the samples they tested.
Usually the actual causes of cancer & other illnesses are never investigated. Almost all research money is spent on looking for treatments but to stop illness in the first place would stop a great deal of suffering.
And if these toxic chemicals are becoming increasingly prevalent in our pets, how much more so that they should become increasingly prevalent in our food animals?
But not to fear . . . there are federal agencies to protect us from any possible harm.
And our federal agencies have done such a great job lately and have shown such integrity in their work, eh?
thats sad and i love the cute cat
