Florida Health Insurance Bill Passes, Helps 3.8 Million Uninsured
April 21, 2008
Orlando (dbTechno) - The House passed a huge plan to overhaul health insurance in the state of Florida. The new plan will make health insurance cheaper to allow for the nearly 4 million uninsured in Florida to get insurance.
The current Florida law required that health insurance companies must cover a wide variety of treatments.
This new proposal though which already passed the Senate will allow for people to buy the bare minimum in terms of what is covered.
This will allow many of the nearly 4 million uninsured in Florida to be covered and buy insurance.
The bill passed the House on Saturday as the state now has the right to talk with insurance companies to work on new policies for people.
The cheaper health insurance policies may include things such as prescription drugs, hospitalization, emergency care, etc.
Things which may not be covered include screenings, tests, etc.
The bill passed the House 70 - 39. The bill now returns to Senate as an agreement needs to be made on the legislation before it goes to Gov. Crist.
