The majority of women confuse the symptoms of a heart attack with fatigue, indigestion, stress, among other things.

Researchers in the U.S. studied 30 women with an average age of 48-years old.

They had all suffered a heart attack.

They were asked in the study to think back in regards to their time before the heart attack, talking about how they felt, what symptoms they had, etc.

The co-author of the study, Judith Lichtman of the Yale School of Medicine stated that they found most women did not think their symptoms were a heart attack at all.

The majority of the younger women stated that they were clueless that they were even at risk for heart disease.

The reason they did not receive immediate care when they began having some symptoms was due to their doctor making them wait days for an appointment.

Lichtman stated that each year, 16,000 young women die, and 40,000 are hospitalized because of a lack of knowledge.

The research was presented Friday at the American Heart Association’s Ninth Scientific Forum on Quality of Care and Outcomes Research in Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke.

The article doesn’t SAY WHAT the symptoms ARE of a heart attack in young women! Apparently the symptoms are different from an ER version of chest grabbing/falling—but what ARE the symptoms that one should recognize as indicative of a heart attack?
