Over 200 Million Children Under 5 Not Getting Basic Health Care

May 6, 2008

According to the ninth annual State of the World's Mothers report put out by Save the Children, over 200 million children under the age of 5 are not getting basic health care when neededBoston (dbTechno) - According to the ninth annual State of the World’s Mothers report put out by Save the Children, over 200 million children under the age of 5 are not getting basic health care when needed.

The report consists of the Basic Health Care Report Card. It looks at 55 developing countries and grades them in terms of which are doing the best to provide children with basic health care.

These 55 countries make up 83% of all child deaths worldwide.

It was found that 8 out of the 55 countries in the Basic Health Care Report provide basic health care to 60% of children under the age of 5.

Topping the report was the Philippines.

A startling number though is that in 30 out of the 55 countries, less than 50% of all young children received health care.

At the bottom of the list was Ethiopia where 80% of the kids under the age of 5 do not receive basic health care.

The report also showed that the poorest children are in the worst shape, at greater risk of death due to a lack of health care. The chance of a child surviving past the age of 5 depends greatly on the country they live in.

Overall it was found that more than 200 million children under the age of 5 lack basic health care.

I am in a state of suspended horror over this, like someone who cannot scream in a nightmare. Here is why!

If we keep helping the children of the world we are feeding the problem which is causing their distress in the first place. The problem of overpopulation.

In an ideal world all would be well taken care of. I would have that ideal world.
But getting there may not be pleasant.

    So here is my suggestion:
We should help only when the recipients of the help conform to strict guidelines of population control. I do not say this easily. However the alternative is to watch this happen over and over. Or die among the starving disease ridden masses.

The world situation calls for tough love.

How many people can you support as an individual if they keep multiplying? Eventually your best intentions turn into an abomination like some crazy cat lady with hundreds of cats running through her home.
