SDSU Student Arrests Showcase Drug Problems In U.S. Colleges

May 7, 2008

If one positive thing came out of the news that 75 San Diego State University Students have been arrested on drug-related charges, it is that once again people are becoming aware of the major drug problems in U.S. colleges..San Diego (dbTechno) - It was reported Tuesday that 75 San Diego State University Students have been arrested on drug-related charges.  This will likely put under the spotlight the growing problem of drugs on U.S. college campuses.

It was just yesterday that District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis announced that five-month undercover operation resulted in the arrest of 96 people in total, with 75 of them being students.

Over the past 12 months, the majority have been arrested and suspended, with 18 of them being arrested Tuesday morning.

Some of the items seized during the undercover operation include drugs such as cocaine, marijuana, a shotgun, pistols, ectasy, $60,000 in cash, and others.

This investigation is revealing the major problems that drugs pose to colleges. The investigation was launched to try and catch those who were selling illegal drugs to students.

With San Diego State University now under the spotlight, this could easily expand to many ot her college campuses around the U.S. where this is also taking place.

These drugs pose a major health risk to not only their academic career, but also their health in general as they increase their risk of having major health complications.

The party scene at colleges is as dangerous and as volatile as ever, and the hope of many is that these SDSU arrests will not only open the eyes of faculty and authorities to look into drugs more, but will also open the eyes of students a bit.
