Cardinal Health Recalls Mouthwash Due To Bacteria
May 8, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - Cardinal Health Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of its alcohol-free mouthwash. The mouthwash is manufactured by Hydrox Inc. and is sold under the Cardinal Health brand name. The recall came after the mouthwash tested positive for Burkholderia cepacia bacteria.
Individuals bottles, as well as Cardinal Health Presource kits both tested positive for the bacteria.
The mouthwash is distributed to hospitals, medical centers, and other such locations around the U.S.
None of it is sold in retail stores though.
Cardinal Health stated that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed the bacteria in the mouthwash.
There is little health risk from the bacteria, but it can cause a weakened immune system.
