Exercise Found To Lower Breast Cancer Risk In Women
May 13, 2008
London (dbTechno) - According to a new report, exercise may be one key way for women to prevent the development of breast cancer.
Researchers who took part in the report included Dr. Christine M. Friedenreich of the Alberta Cancer Board, as well as Dr. A.E. Cust of the University of Melbourne.
Researchers looked at data from a total of 62 studies which looked at the link between breast cancer and exercise.
They found that the most physically active had a 25% reduced risk of developing breast cancer, compared directly to the least active women.
Other important factors to note were that family history of breast cancer had no impact on how exercise helped prevent the development of the disease.
Another important revelation was that exercise did not reduce breast cancer risk in obese women, as the risk persisted.
More research will be done on how to measure exercise and how it impacts breast cancer further.
The results of their research have been published in a report in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
