Vitamin D is found in foods, exposure to the sun, and through other means.

A study was released in advance of the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, set for later in May.

The study was carried out by researchers at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto.

They found that vitamin D plays a huge role in both the prevention and progression of breast cancer.

The study looked at over 500 women who were diagnosed with breast cancer at the University of Toronto hospitals between 1989 and 1995.

They found that out of all of the patients, only 24% had the proper levels of vitamin D when diagnosed.

Those women who had a deficiency of vitamin D had a 94% increased risk of having their cancer spread, and were also around 75% more likely to die from the cancer.

Researchers stated this is the first time vitamin D has been linked to breast cancer.
