Bangladesh Confirms First Human H5N1 Bird Flu Case
May 22, 2008
London (dbTechno) - The Bangladesh Health Ministry has come out and confirmed the first human case of the H5N1 bird flu in the country.
The report was released by the Directorate General of Health Services in a statement.
The statement was released on Thursday, but did not reveal anything about the human infected, beyond that he or she was a child.
It was noted that the child is recovering thanks to treatment for the H5N1 bird flu virus.
The child was infected by the virus back in January, with the case diagnosed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia.
Bangladesh has worked tirelessly to slaughter birds to stop the spread of the H5N1 bird flu virus.
