Boston (dbTechno) – A 1994 federal law called the Multi-Ethnic Placement Act is under a lot of criticism in a new study, as it shows that the law may actually give adopted children of varying races just as many disadvantages as advantages.
The report was released by the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute and states that the 1994 law needs some change.
The idea behind the law was to get parents who want to adopt a child to think about adopting a child of a different race than them.
Parents who choose to go this route, according to the law will go through the same training as fi they went through their own race.
The report released states that this is a major problem as these parents need special training to learn how to deal with these children of different races.
The report cites that children who are adopted by parents of different races are more likely to have problems than if the parents were the same race.
