Bird Flu Causes Major Scare In Hong Kong
June 10, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - Hong Kong is working hard to fight the bird flu after it was detected on Saturday in one of the city’s poultry markets.
In total, 2,700 birds have been slaughtered since the H5N1 bird flu virus has been detected.
They have also chosen to ban all live poultry imports from the mainland China for up to 21 days.
The belief as of right now is that humans are not at great risk for infection, but this adds to the fear that a problem may exist with poultry stocks in southern China.
Hong Kong is hopeful that by stepping up security they can stop the bird flu from spreading.
