Report Says Health Insurers Are Free To Abuse Consumers
June 13, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - A new report was released on Thursday by Families USA which has come out and revealed that the majority of U.S. states do nothing to protect consumers from abuse by health insurance providers.
The survey looked at state insurance laws as well as regulation laws to see just how much states help out people in terms of their health insurance.
What they found in the report was that the majority of states do not have any way to help people who have already been denied coverage by a health insurer.
Consumers also have no way to appeal a decision by a health insurance company who decides to cancel their policy at any given moment after they get sick.
The group is calling for federal and state reforms to better protect consumers.
