Number Of Cases Of Salmonella Tomatoes Increases To 383

June 19, 2008

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has come out and increased the number of people who have fallen ill due to the salmonella-tainted tomatoes.Boston (dbTechno) - The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has come out and increased the number of people who have fallen ill due to the salmonella-tainted tomatoes.

Just a few days ago, the number of people infected by the salmonella-tainted tomatoes was around 275.

The CDC has increased that number yet again though, as there are now 383 confirmed cases across 30 states, plus the District of Columbia.

The CDC has stated that the increase is not due to any new infections, but instead due to states becoming better at reporting the cases, watching for the cases, and identifying problem areas.

Those who have fallen ill range in age from 1 to 88 years old, and 47% are female.

As of right now, 48 people have had to be hospitalized due to the incident.

The first salmonella case was spotted back in April, and the virus continues to spread.
