Heavy Rain Helping West Nile Virus Spread
June 20, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - Heavy rain across the U.S., according to health officials, is a severe warning that there will likely be more mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus.
Mosquitoes can pick up the virus when going after things such as dead birds.
.
They can also spawn in standing water, or pools of water which may come from rain.
Health officials in the U.S. are stating that it is important to keep yourself protected if you are in the middle of a rainy season.
The best things you can do include wearing bug spray when you are outside, wearing pants and shirts outside, and getting rid of any standing water from around your house.
During dawn and dusk, it may not be a bad idea to keep the young and elderly people indoors either to avoid the mosquitoes.
