Hundreds were initially told they were HIV positive, before later finding out the results were false and that they were not positive after all.

The New York City Health Department has reported to the New York Post that 232 people are victims of these false HIV test results.

The 232 people who were tested between November 2007 and April 2008 were initially told they were HIV positive.

The new release has confirmed though that they really aren’t.

The patients took a mouth swab test to check for HIV. This test showed that they were positive.

They then took a blood test, which revealed they were HIV negative.

This has prompted the CDC to launch a full investigation to the case, focusing on the maker of the mouth swab test, Orasure Technologies.
