Judge Refuses To Order Change To Veteran Affairs’ Health Care

June 26, 2008

A judge on Wednesday ruled in the DIstrict of Columbia that it was not needed to overhaul the health care system of the Department of Veterans Affairs..Boston (dbTechno) - A judge on Wednesday ruled in the DIstrict of Columbia that it was not needed to overhaul the health care system of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

U.S. District Judge Samuel Conti ruled on Wednesday that a lawsuit against the VA was misdirected.

The judge stated that if they want changes to be made, they need to go to Congress, and not the VA.

Many veterans groups have filed lawsuits against the VA, stating that there was a lacking mental health care system, as well as benefits system.

What they were hoping the judge would do, was to force the VA to improve their mental health care.

Judge Samuel Conti stated that the the veterans groups who filed the lawsuits “did not prove a systemic denial or unreasonable delay in mental health care.”

The VA was happy with the result.
