July 14, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - According to the drug manufacturer Amgen, their prostate cancer drug denosumab has the ability to prevent bone loss in men.
They conducted a clinical trial which involved 1,400 prostate cancer patients.
What they found was that after the trial concluded, the drug was able to prevent bone loss, reducing the risk of osteoporosis.
The study also found that men who received the Amgen drug had a greatly reduced risk of having new vertebral fractures, compared to those in the study who recieved the placebo.
Amgen is clearly excited about the evidence they have found in this clinical study, and is looking forward to the conclusion of another study called FREEDOM to further find how the drug does in preventing bone loss.
