New Therapy Makes Patients Receptive To Kidney Transplants
July 17, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - According to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, a new type of therapy actually make patients’ bodies more receptive to kidney transplants.
The therapy helps by improving transplant rates, as well as outcomes for patients.
The hospital put out a news release this week which stated that they hope the therapy can come as a new option for patients.
Those who are “sensitized” to transplant antigens could make their body more receptive to the transplant with this method.
The new therapy is now in trial, and combines both intravenous gamma globulin and rituximab.
These helps desensitize highly sensitive patients. The new therapy and trial are talked about in the New England Journal of Medicine.
