First Case Of West Nile Virus Confirmed In State Of Idaho
July 19, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - The CDC has come out and confirmed that to date, 22 people have been impacted and have fallen ill due to the West Nile virus this season thus far across the U.S. This comes as the first case has been confirmed in Idaho.
Communities in southeast Idaho have been testing for the virus, and have had a mosquito come back positive.
West Nile is a potentially fatal disease which spreads between infected mosquitoes and humans.
Precautions are already being taken in the state to set up mosquito traps and try to keep the population down.
There is no real cure for West Nile, as few very people infected actually become seriously ill.
The best thing to do is to use bug repellent, wear long sleeves and pants, as well as to avoid being outdoors at dawn and dusk.
