Viagra Helps Sex Life Of Women Taking Antidepressants
July 22, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - According to a new study, Viagra is has proven to be very helpful and effective in helping women who are suffering from depression, and taking antidepressants.
The research was carried out on 98 pre-menopausal women who were successfully using antidepressants, but were having sexual problems. The average age of the women was 37-years old.
For the study, which lasted for a period of 8 weeks, women agreed to have sex once each week, taking a pill before they did the act. They did not know whether or not the pill was Viagra, of a placebo.
What they found was that 72% of the women taking Viagra saw improvement overall, while 27% of women reported improvement.
The main aspect where the Viagra helped was with orgasm, as the Viagra benefits did not extend to other aspects of sexual behavior.
Antidepressants are known to interefere with the sexual drive of a person, and can hurt their performance. Viagra has proven to be a solution to that problem.
Though it was helpful, side effects were still present, as 43% of the women on Viagra reported having headaches, compared to 27% on the placebo pills.
The study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association on Tuesday.
