Boston (dbTechno) – According to a new study, the amount of fish you consume, rich in omega-3 fats could help you prevent clogged arteries. This is why, according to researchers, the death rate from heart disease for Japanese men is half that of American men.
The new study looked at 868 Japanese men living in Japan, all of middle-age, Japanese men living in the United States, as well as white men living in the United States.
The study found that the levels of omega-3 in the blood of Japanese men living in Japan was double that of both the Japanese men living in the U.S., and the white men living in the U.S.
This could explain the lower rate of heart disease deaths by Japanese men living in Japan.
The researchers were able to directly link high levels of omega-3 fats from eating fish to lower levels of plaque build-up in the arteries.
The study has been published online in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
