Smoking Found To Increase Risk Of Stroke For Your Spouse

Boston (dbTechno) - According to a new study carried out by a team at Harvard University, smokers increase the stroke risk of their spouse via second hand smoke.
The study looked at the records of over 16,000 people over the age of 50, as well as their spouses.
What they found was that a non-smoker living under the same roof as someone who smokes is at an increased risk of stroke, compared to a person living with someone who doesn’t smoke.
Those who had never smoked before, and were living with a smoker were at a 42% increased risk of stroke.
If the person had smoked at some point in their lives, and now lives with a smoker, their risk of stroke is increased by 72%.
Second hand smoke kills over 50,000 non-smokers each and every year, with children, pregnant women, and older people being at the highest risk.
The new study has been published in the latest issue of American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
