Exercise Pill Improves Speed, Endurance, Helps With Weight Loss
July 31, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - Researchers have released a report in the July 31 issue of Cell, which reveals a simple pill that may actually be able to improve the speed and endurance of people, and also promote weight loss, when combined with exercise.
The pill was developed by scientists at the Salk Institute, and was originally developed to help treat mice which had metabolic diseases.
The author of the study, Ron Evans, stated that young adult mice who exercised and took one of these two developed pills were able to run farther and faster than mice who exercised without the pill.
On top of that, mice who took the drug for a period of four weeks were able to burn more calories, and have less fat than those who did not take the drug.
On average, the mice who exercised and took the pill were able to run 44% farther on a treadmill, as well as 23% longer compared to those who did not take it.
The pill is basically being touted as exercise, without actually forcing people to break a sweat.
Exercise is always thought of as being health for you, as it can do thing such as reduce your risk for diseases, among other things.
The problem though is that many people do not have the time, or the drive to actually engage in over 30-minutes of exercise each and every day.
This miracle drug could help people maintain endurance, and get the effects of exercise without having to do it on a daily basis.
The hope is that they will be able to carry this effectiveness over to humans to help people with obesity, muscle diseases, etc.
