New Bush Regulation Would Classify The Pill As Abortion
July 31, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - The Bush Administration has put forth new regulations as to how abortion would be defined. The new regulations have caught a great deal of attention and opposition, as they would make the use of any contraception, such as using the pill, as a means of abortion.
The regulation is not complete to this point, as it is still being revised and debated over for the time being.
What it will likely do though is take common contraception methods such as birth control pills, as well as other devices, and treat them as abortion.
The idea behind the regulation is that these contraceptives prevent women from getting pregnant, and stop fertilized eggs from going into the uterus.
When this happens, the new regulation states that this is classified as a means of abortion.
There is a great deal of opposition already to these new regulations which are starting to come out.
As for women in the U.S., this new regulation would have a major impact on the pill, and other contraceptives if it is approved.
Many fear that it would stop women from using birth control so freely and easily.
Only time will tell if the regulation is approved or not, but it could mean that health insurance companies will no longer be covering common contraceptives.
