Los Angeles (dbTechno) – The Los Angeles City Council has taken a major step towards trying to fight obesity, and improve the health of those living in South Los Angeles, California. As a result of this, they have put in place a ban on any new fast food restaurant from opening for the next year.
According to reports, over 30% of adults are now considered obese, a number which is shocking to say the least
.
On top of that, the Los Angeles CIty Council stated that the majority of the restaurants in poor communities, 70% of them to be exact, are all fast food restaurants.
The city of Los Angeles has unanimously voted to ban new fast food restaurants from opening up in South Los Angeles for an entire year.
The idea is to try and improve the amount of quality food available for people.
Most fast food locations offer things such as hamburgers, donuts, french fries, fried chicken, etc.
This food may be cheap, but it has proven to be extremely unhealthy when eaten in great quantities over the years.
Only time will tell how the ban will impact obesity in Los Angeles, but many are hopeful it will improve things.
