Study Shows Exercise Pill Turns Couch Potato Into Exercise Guru
August 4, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - According to a new study, U.S. researchers have developed a pill which will turn any couch potato into an exercise guru, with the endurance to run a marathon like any other major athlete.
The new drug works by basically acting to mimic the effects to the body of exercise. In other words, it is tricking the body into thinking it is doing exercise, thus allowing you to build up your fitness while doing virtually nothing.
Scientists from the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in California tested out the new exercise pill on young adult mice, and found that it was extremely effective.
Researchers found that the young adult mice who took part in exercise, and also took the exericse pill, were able to 44% longer than mice who did exercise without the pill.
The young adult mice on the exercise pill were also able to run far faster.
The fear is that athletes may pick up on the drug, and use it as something such as steroids.
To combat this, a test has already been developed to detect it in the blood and urine.
This is being seen as a huge step forward in improving how much you positive effect you can get just by doing regular exercise.
The hope is that this new exercise pill could help treat muscle disease, as well as obesity and other health issues.
