Earlier Treatment Of HIV/AIDS Could Save Lives Of Those Infected
August 5, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - The 17th annual International AIDS Conference is continuing this week in Mexico City, as the latest research shows that earlier treatment of HIV/AIDS could help improve and save the lives of those infected.
The new research was presented by Scott Gammer of Columbia University.
The research carried out has revealed that earlier treatment of HIV/AIDS, before the CD4 cell count declines, could greatly help those infected.
Researchers have been looking into this over the course of the past few years, and found that early antiretroviral therapy could be effective if done early enough.
New guidelines have been published, recommending that certain early antiretroviral therapy drugs be used in early stages of HIV/AIDS
.
The guidelines were published on Sunday as part of the kicking off of the International AIDS Conference in Mexico City.
The 6-day event has brought together tens of thousands of scientists, politicians, and others.
