Estrogen Proves To Help Fight Schizophrenia In Women

New York (dbTechno) - According to a new Australian study estrogen known as estradiol may help prevent,a nd fight schizophrenia in women.

Schizophrenia brings the onset of symptoms such  s delusions, hallucinations, etc.

The study was conducted on 102 women who were of child-bearing age, and all had schizophrenia.

They followed the women for a period of 28 days, giving half of the women estradiol, while giving the other half a placebo.

What they found was that after the 28 days,k the women who received the estrogen known as estradiol showed greater improvement in their symptoms.

The belief is that estrogen may also have a preventive role in women with schizophrenia.

The study has been published in the August issue of the Archives of General Psychiatry.
