FDA Approves New, Improved Flu Vaccines For Next Year
August 6, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has come out and approved the flu vaccines for the upcoming flu season.
The flu vaccines have been changed quite a bit compared to last season, changing all three flu strains in each of the vaccines.
The FDA announced that they have approved a total of six flu vaccines thus far.
Last February, and FDA advisory panel recommended that the flu vaccine be changed before this season, as it did not protect people from 2 out of the 3 main types of flu strains.
Flu vaccines change year to year, but usually when they make a new vaccine, only 1 or 2 of the strains actually changes.
This year though, a complete overhaul has been done on the flu vaccine.
We will have to wait and see if this year’s flu vaccine proves to be a better and more effective match than last year.
The six approved flu vaccines include Aflruia, Fluarix, FluLaval, FluMist, Fluvirin, and Fluzone.
