Everyone across the U.S. is being urged to do everything that they can to try and stay protected from mosquitoes infected with the West Nile virus.

The West Nile virus is going strong this year, as it has already infected several people across the U.S. with the hardest hit location to this point being California.

There are many things that people can do though to stay protected from a mosquito bite.

The first thing that you can do to start things off is to remove any standing water around your house.

Standing water is usually ideal for misquito breeding, and by removing it, you can help cut down the mosquto population.

Beyond that, you can also protect yourself by staying indoors during dusk and dawn.

Other prevention methods include using an insect repellent which had DEET, as well as clothing with long sleeves and pants.

Those at greatest risk include inifants, as well as the elderly, due to their weak immune systems.
