The state Supreme Court ruled that doctors have no right to decide who they will treat or who they will not treat based on their religious beliefs.

The California state Supreme Court came to a unanimous decision in favor of Gudalupe Benitez.

Gudalupe Benitez filed a lawsuit against North Coast Women’s care in Vista, as well as two doctors who work there.

Gudalupe Benitez stated that doctors told her back in 2000 that since she was a lesbian, they could not provide her with artificial insemination.

The reasoning behind this was due to the fact that they stated that their Christian beliefs prohibited them from doing it.

Following this decision, they sent her to another clinic to receive the insemination.

Since that took place, she has given birth to 3 kids, and has a family with her partner of 18 years.

The state Supreme Court ruled that doctors cannot use their religious beliefs as a reason to deny treatments for gays or lesbians in anyw ay.

This ruling comes just a few months after a ban on same-sex marriage in California was overturned.

The ruling makes it clear that California continues the push towards full and equal rights to all.
