Muslims Ready To Fast During Holy Month Of Ramadan
August 31, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - Muslims are getting ready to observe the Islamic month of fasting, Ramadan.
Ramadan begins in September, and will continue until either September 30th or October 1st.
It is a major aspect of the Islamic religion, and one that all follow.
Ramadan revolves around the month when the Prophet Muhammad was able to receive the Qu’ran.
The holy month is a time for Muslims to focus on their faith, their responsibilities, etc.
Muslims who are involved in communities will see things change for the month as the population completes their fasting.
In many countries, markets are closed, schools change schedules, etc.
The belief is that if you fast for the month of Ramadan, and six days during Shawwal, it will be seen as if you had fasted for a whole year.
The first day of Ramadan is on Monday, while the ending of the fasting period will be on October 1st.
