Health Care Costs Expected To Spike In Coming Year
September 5, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - According to a new study released by the consulting firm Mercer, health care costs are expected to rise 5.7% in the coming year, 2009.
Over the course of the past few years, health care costs continue to rise. In the year 2007, health care costs rose 6.1%.
In 2008, it is believed that health care costs have risen once again by 5.7%.
Next year appears to be more of the same, as Mercer has predicted from their study that health care costs are going to rise once again.
Their report stated that 59% of companies in the U.S. have plans to increase health insurance policy premiums for employees. They also may put a new cap on out-of-pocket reimbursements for employees.
The goal of this for companies is to help control the rising cost of health care.
The burden, instead of going on the shoulders of the companies, will be placed on the workers.
The study sated that this is not the case for all employers but for the most part, many companies are going to deal with rising health care costs by making employees pay more.
