Federal Govt. Sets Rules For Selling Medicare Plans
September 16, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - The federal government announced new rules on Monday for insurance agents selling Medicare Advantage plans. The idea is to protect senior citizens from sales tactics being used.
Insurance agents have been known in the past to be deceptive, and put a great deal of pressure on senior citizens when selling these Medicare Advantage plans.
This is changing though, as the new rules aim to protect seniors from these situattions.
The new rules were issued by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The two biggest additions include telemarketing, and door-to-door sales no longer being allowed in any way.
They also stop agents from moving senior citizens to different plans just to get more commission.
The new rules will go into effect on October 1st.
