Washington (dbTechno) – According to a new study published in the journal Arthritis & Rheumatism, a popular supplement, glucosamine and chrondroitin sulfate, is no help to arthritis patients.
The study was led by Allen Sawitzke, professor of internal medicine at the University of Utah.
What they found was that this supplement was not able to do any better than sugar pills in regards to helping the patients.
The study lasted for 2-years, and was intended to see if the supplements could slow cartilage loss in these patients with arthritis.
The combination of glucosamine chrondroitin is very popular in terms of a dietary supplement in the U.S., but does not help arthritis patients.
The two-year study was conducted at a total of nine sites, and found that the supplement did not do any better than a placebo in terms of slowing the progression of the disease.
