The Time Is Now, Get Your Flu Vaccine ASAP
September 30, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is continuing the push to try and get as many people vaccinated against the flu as possible. If you are thinking about getting a flu shot, the time to do it is now.
The actual flu season is about a month away, and is rapidly approaching.
With that said, the CDC is hopeful that they can cut down on the death toll from the flu.
On average, over 35,000 people each year die from the flu, while over 200,000 are hospitalized.
This year, the CDC has recommended that kids from 6 months to 18 years get a flu shot.
This is different from past recommendations, which started flu shots in kids when they were 2-years and up.
On top of that, the CDC is also pushing for all people 50 and older, as well as pregnant women to get a flu shot.
The biggest issue is to actually get people to go out and receive a flu shot.
If you are thinking about it though, the time is now while the supply if plentiful, and the season is yet to kick off.
