Washington (dbTechno) – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and Republican candidate John McCain continue to fire back and forth at each other on the topic of health care.
Both are offering plans to reform health care and try to bring change due to the fact that over 45 million Americans are living without health insurance.
Under the Obama plan, he wants to increase the number of people in the U.S. who have health insurance vastly.
He wants to do this by trying ot expand employer-based health care, as well as to offer federal health care.
The McCain plan wants to do away with employer-based health insurance, and instead let Americans do it.
The McCain plan would give a $2,500 tax credit to individuals and a $5,000 credit to families to buy health insurance.
Obama believes that by offering this new type of federal health insurance, he could bring insurance to 34 million of the 45 million who do not have any.
The Obama campaign is also accusing the McCain plan of cutting Medicare by nearly $1 trillion over the next decade.
The latest Obama TV ad states the McCain plan would require “cuts in benefits, eligibility, or both” in terms of Medicare and Medicaid.
