Vaccine Helps Reduce Rotavirus Hospitalizations In Kids

Washington (dbTechno) - According to a new study, the rotavirus vaccines currently on the market have helped cut the number of hospitalizations related to thw highly-contagious disease in kids.
Merck & Co. the maker of one of the rotavirus vaccines, put out a study which found that the vaccine helped reduce the number of emergency room visits for rotavirus.
The company found that the vaccine Rotateq had a very successful effect on the health of infected kids.
Both the Merck vaccine Rotateq and GlaxoSmithKline vaccine Rotarix are equally safe and both are approved by the FDA.
Overall, the vaccines have been found to reduce the number of hospitalizations by up to 70%.
Irini Daskalaki of Drexel University College of Medicine reported at a meeting of the American Cancer Society of Microbiology and the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
In the report, it was noted that the vaccines resulted in a 94% decline in rotavirus hospitalizations for kids aged 6 to 11 months.
This shows just how powerful these vaccines are, and how effective they continue to be.
