Researchers stated that women taking these hormone based drugs and experiencing hot flashes, night sweats, or painful joints should see this as a positive thing.

Scientists have found that this means that breast cancer tumors are not likely to return in the future.

Researchers were led by Jack Cuzick of Cancer Research UK, and looked at 4,000 post-menopausal women who were treated with a variety of cancer drugs.

They consisted of either anastrozole, arimidex, or tamoxifen.

The women who reported having hot flashes, night sweats, or painful joints within the first three months of treatment did better long-term

They were more likely to stay cancer free over the long run.

The study was published in the journal Lancet Oncology.
