FDA Urged By Consumer Group To Ban Drug Avandia

Washington (dbTechno) - The Public Citizen, a consumer advocacy group, has come out and stated that they want the FDA to ban the diabetes drug Avandia.
The Public Citizen is citing adverse health events linked to Avandia as the reason to issue the ban.
The consumer group has stated that one of the adverse events it can cause includes liver failure, among others.
By looking into the FDA’s Adverse Event Reporting System, the group stated that they have discovered 14 cases where Avandia casued liver failure, leading to 12 deaths.
They now believe that the risks far outweigh the benefits of the drug.
Based on research, they stated that by taking the drug you increase your risk of heart atack by 40%.
They also state that the drug doubles the risk of heart failure, bone fractures, vision loss, and anemia.
