Study Shows Bullies Love Putting People In Great Pain
November 9, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - A new study has found that bullies get a great deal of satisfaction out of seeing other people in pain. This satisfaction is linked to the wiring of their brain.
Researchers tested out two groups of teens between the ages of 16 and 18.
The researchers from the University of Chicago compared aggressive teens to normal teens.
All of the teens had their brains monitored using magnetic resonance imaging scans. They were monitored while they watched a video clip of someone causing another person to be in great pain.
They found that the bullies got more satisfaction out the videos than the normal teens did.
This was due to their brains giving them rewards when this type of pain was seen on the video clip.
This could help researchers better understand why teens are aggressive and become bullies.
The study was published in the journal Biological Psychology.
