Attorney General In NY Looking Into Health Insurers, Colleges
November 18, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has kicked his investigation into gear as he continues to look into the relationship between health insurance companies and colleges.
A number of subpoenas have been issued, along with several requests for documents and such.
The colleges focused on include Columbia University, Cornell University, Georgetown University, Sarah Lawrence College, among other state universities.
The investigation is looking into the relationships between these colleges and health insurance companies that cover the students.
It appears to have a lot to do with how well the terms of the health insurance policies are being disclosed, as well as the cost to students.
Cuomo is also looking into if colleges receive any extra money for only allowing college students to use certain health insurance companies.
