Survey Shows 49% Of U.S. Doctors Ready To Leave Medicine
November 18, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - According to a new report released by the Physicians’ Foundation, half of all primary care physicians in the U.S. would quit if they had the chance.
A survey was conducted by the Physicians’ Foundation on 270,000 physicians across the U.S.
The idea was to figure out why so many doctors have been leaving primary care in recent years.
As of right now, there is a major shortage of primary care physicians in the U.S., and things are only going to get worse.
The survey found that 49% of doctors currently in practice plan to stop practicing, or reduce their workload over the next 3 years.
That means that over the course of the next 3 years, half of the doctors in the U.S. are going to be cutting back on how many patients they see, if any.
This is going to make things very difficult in regards to Americans getting proper health care, health insurance, etc.

Doctors are sick of HMO’s just like patients are. For every doctor in an office, there are 4 people scurrying around in smocks with Insurance papers. HMO’s have 2 purposes (1) to deny coverage, (2) colllections. HMO’s are a cancer on the health care system. Unfortunately, most doctors lacked the time and energy to fight the hijack went it all went down in the 80’s. Doctors were told to get onboard or risk being black-balled by the insurors. The result is bureaucratic insanity. Insurance companies are all about profits, not patients. They are an abomination. And how are they doing? Just look at the classifieds, 3 pages of medical administration jobs and then 3 jobs for the rest.
well as one of XX% of Americans who does not have a primary care physician or health insurance, I am not sure that I will miss them.. or their proper health care
