November 26, 2008

According to a new report released by Families USA, the number of American children living without health insurance declined by 6% last year.Boston (dbTechno) - According to a new report released by Families USA, the number of American children living without health insurance declined by 6% last year.

Families USA carried out their research using data from the U.S. Census Bureau over a three-year period from 2005 to 2007.

The non-partisan organization was looking into health care for U.S. children.

What they found was that from 2006 to 2007, 500,000 children in the U.S. were able to get health insurance.

The other side of the coin here though is that the number of children in the U.S. living in poverty also increased by 500,000.

In 2007, 8.6 million children were said to be without health insurance.

The lowest rate of uninsured children was found to be in the state of Massachusetts at 4.6%.
