Iran Reveals Over 18,000 Citizens Are Infected With HIV

 Iran has come out and revealed that there are over 18,000 citizens in the country who are infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS...........Washington (dbTechno) - Iran has come out and revealed that there are over 18,000 citizens in the country who are infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

The new report was released by Abbas Sedaqat from the Iranian Health Ministry and was reported by the International Herald Tribune.

According to the latest figured, there are 18,320 Iranians who are infected with HIV.

The majority of these citizens, nearly 70% of them, were infected with HIV due to addiction to drugs.

30% of the cases of HIV were said to be contracted due to sexual intercourse with prostitutes.

Recent reports have shown that HIV is on the rise in Iran in regards to sexual transmission of the virus.

This is a growing problem in the country and one that is starting to be shown in more light as the months go by.

Iran has been trying to push to prevent the spread of HIV with the use of hotlines and such.

This news comes on World AIDS Day 2008, which is the 20th anniversary of the day started by the World Health Organization to fight the spread of HIV/AIDS.
