Lack Of Vitamin D Tied To Increased Risk Of Heart Problems
December 2, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - A new study has suggested that vitamin D may actually play a very important role in the health of your heart.
Vitamin D has long been known to be something which can help with your bones, making them stronger.
Researchers though have now found that vitamin D is also very important in keeping your heart healthy.
The study was led by Dr. James H. O’Keefe from the Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City.
They found that low levels of vitamin D double the risk of heart attack, stroke, or other cadiac events.
This compared to patients who had high levels of vitamin D in their bodies.
This comes as the studies revealed that 50% of adults and 30% of children in the U.S. are considered to be vitamin D deficient.
