According to a new study, the generic version of drugs for heart problems are just as good as the brand name versions........................Boston (dbTechno) - According to a new study, the generic version of drugs for heart problems are just as good as the brand name versions.

The study was led by researchers at Harvard Medical School and Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

The researchers looked over all different types of classes of drugs.  These drugs were used to treat a variety of heart problems such as chest pain, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, cholesterol, clotting, etc.

They looked over a total of 47 different studies to compare the generic drugs to the brand name drugs.

The studies spanned a period of roughly 24 years from 1984 to 2008.

What they found was that the generic heart drugs in all different classes were just as effective as their brand name versions.

These classes of drugs included beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, statins, and blood thinners.

The study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
