Study Reveals Hourglass Figure Is Not For Working Women
December 4, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - A new study has revealed that the hourglass figure so many women seek may actually not be very healthy at all.
The mass media seems to always gear us towards the idea that women should strive to have an hourglass figure.
This may actually not be the case though, as the optimal figure may not be one with a thin bottom and a big top.
The research was led by Elizabeth Cashdan of the University of Utah, and focused on the lifestyles of women, and what the hourglass figure meant to their health.
What they found was that women who work more and bring home more money are far less likely to have that hourglass figure.
This is hormones that make women stronger in a work environment actually distribute fat from the hips to the waist.
This means that women who are out there working, competing, and under great stress are not as likely to have this hourglass figure.
This is interesting to say the least as it shows that it is very difficult for a woman out working on a daily basis to attain that hourglass figure, not only due to the work they are putting in, but due to their bodies as well.
The study has been published in the December issue of the journal Current Anthropology.
