(Update) FDA Set To Approve Drug To Boost Eyelashes
December 9, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is set to approve a new drug known as Latisse which will boost eyelashes of people.
The drug in questions is from Allergan Inc. and comes from the glaucoma drug Lumigan.
The drug is in the form of an eye drop and has been proven to help a great deal in building up eyelashes.
By building up, we mean that it promotes overall growth of eyelashes, making them darker, thicker, longer, etc.
A study was carried out on the drug with roughly 140 people taking it, and 140 people taking a statin for 16 weeks.
By the end of the study, those who took Latisse had their eyelashes grow a great deal, compared to the group on the placebo.
The study also revealed that side effects were very mild, with nothing serious being confirmed.
An FDA panel has given a unanimous recommendation for the drug to receive regulatory approval.
